Fundamental.objects is conceived in and around our restaurant atelier. A collection of physical objects that are needed to support, enhance and elevate the gastronomic experience. The Fundamental Atelier serves as a food workshop with chef's table, and thus functions as a test environment for many of the objects.

Nearer Than Nature (The Construction Site Is)

The objects investigate our species relationship with its industrial made landscape. Where the materials originate in the building industry - with natural additives where possible - the multi-interpretable use, shapes and tactile finishes are informed by the artist’s youth spent on the rocks and crevices of the Mediterranean Pyrenees. 

The current 'Moveable Feast’ series is driven by the materiality of natural materials such as rocks, sand, clay and trees - the original human-natural environment. Objects that feel rough, but soft and intriguing, with an emphasis on an intrinsic duality of use. Just as in nature a boulder or dune top can fulfil several roles, from a place to sit to a place to step up or lean, the objects also facilitate several uses without revealing them immediately.
